About Us. Mike and Dr. Karen McDivitt founded McDivitt Law Firm, PC, in Colorado Springs in 1989. For fifteen years prior to that, Mike practiced law in La Junta, Colorado. He is an experienced personal injury, workers' comp and Social Security Disability trial lawyer. In addition to handling Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability claims, Mr. McDivitt represents those seriously injured due to the negligence of individuals and corporations. Dr. Karen McDivitt is the Business Manager of McDivitt Law Firm, and custom-designed the company's extensive database. She received her BA and MA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of Denver. Karen also has been a commercial real estate developer in several Colorado cities and has owned and operated several commercial businesses. She is a past member of the Board of Directors of the CU Alumni Association of Boulder and of the Pikes Peak Mental Health Board. Mike and Karen have two grown children, David - an investment banker and currently a law student at Colorado University, and Lisa - employed with CBS Television in Los Angeles.Along with its Colorado Springs office, McDivitt Law Firm has maintained a Pueblo office located at 4th and Grand since 1995, which is fully staffed to meet the needs of our southern Colorado clients. How Are Fees Paid?. We charge no fee for the initial consultation. Our clients pay no attorney fees for the services we render until a recovery is made. Compensation is then based on a percentage of that recovery - whether by settlement, order, verdict or judgment. In most cases we do not require any advance payment of costs incurred in pursuing your claim, and although you are ultimately responsible for costs, we incur them on your behalf and recover those costs out of your settlement upon completion of your case.
