Ashley Judd Is Depressed In Her Latest Movie, Helen

Judd has signed on to work with Nettelbeck’s on a drama entitled Helen, in which Judd will play a music professor and mother who suffers from a deep, debilitating depression and finds relief for her pain with a young female student.

It sounds like fairly kosher stuff but Nettelbeck’s films have all been well received at various festivals over the years and Judd’s recent performance suggests that there might be more to this story than initially meets the eye.

Judd managed to surprise me enough with Bug to keep me interested in her career for at least one film. If this one happens to be a winner, she may still make it on the list of actresses to watch.

Helen starts filming in Vancouver on October 2nd. Get out your parkas and cameras out and get ready to snap some celebrity photos.
