while on duty over the weekend and remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.
Steven McCarthy is in fair condition with broken bones at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according the report.
The 34-year-old officer was hit by a car while he was on foot at the scene of an accident at 11 p.m.
Saturday at Memorial Drive and Springwood Avenue.
