The firm of Clinton & Muzyka, P.C. is primarily a maritime defense firm servicing clients internationally and specifically in the New England area. Since opening in 1984, we have addressed diverse areas of defense primarily in the maritime field, but more recently in other fields of tort and commercial litigation. We have been engaged and defend various assureds in the New England area under insurance coverage and unrelated commercial matters. Our attorneys are admitted to practice law in the States of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and other states on a Pro Hac Vice basis. The firm is comprised of Thomas E. Clinton, Thomas J. Muzyka, and Robert E. Collins as principals. Our former partner, Arthur P. Skarmeas assists on specific cases on an Of Counsel basis. Associated with the firm is Kenneth M. Chiarello and Terence G.Kenneally. Our firm's practice initially concentrated in civil maritime litigation defense and vessel owner maritime assistance. In the past several years, the scope of our practice has expanded to include general defense, all tort litigation, and commercial litigation matters. Although the maritime practice is our primary expertise, our practice also extends to all aspects of insurance tort defense, including but not limited to, personal injury defense, worker's compensation, subrogation recovery, product liability, labor agreements, OSHA related cases and insurance coverage matters. The maritime aspect of our firm remains the same addressing the broad Admiralty defense aspects of Maritime Law. In the past several years, the maritime and insurance industries have experienced the severe impact of increasing defense costs. Moreover, local litigation awards have dramatically increased together with interest and costs to further aggravate this financial condition. In reaction to these circumstances, we have implemented an affordable and diversified approach to the already established methods of handling maritime and insurance claims.
