INTRODUCTION. We are a law firm composed of attorneys who are committed to serving each client on a personal basis, devoting individual attention to each client's needs in accordance with the highest standards of the legal profession. In order to introduce ourselves to those seeking counsel, we have prepared this brochure describing who we are and the types of services we provide to our clients. HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A LAW FIRM?. Selecting counsel is a major undertaking, requiring much investigation and evaluation. As you examine your alternatives and prioritize your particular legal needs, we hope that you will find that our firm can assist you. We encourage comparison with other law firms to help you make this important choice. You should feel comfortable with your attorney and feel that he or she is listening to you. You should know who is going to do your work and whether or not you are conferring with the appropriate person. At Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Mahan P.S.C., your attorney will work with you and be primarily responsible for your matters. At times, other members of the firm may be called upon to provide necessary assistance, but your attorney will retain supervisory authority. When selecting counsel, you may choose from a broad spectrum of law firms - anywhere from a one- or two-person office, usually a firm with modest clerical support, to the large, multi-city firm, with hundreds of employees. Each client must determine which type of firm is best suited for their particular needs. We are a medium size firm and we intend to stay that way. We offer our clients the services of attorneys who have diverse areas of concentration and experience levels, and one or all of our attorneys are prepared to be of help to you. OUR FIRM'S PHILOSOPHY. Above all, we are "advocates" - always in our clients' corner when called upon to represent their particular interests. The attorneys of Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Mahan P.S.C. will make every effort to review with you all sides of the issue, clearly and concisely; however, our recommendations are just that - recommendations based upon a study of several options. We believe that we are experts at anticipating potential problems and recognizing opportunities to solve these problems to our client's advantage. We are pleased when our clients tell us that one of the things they like best about us is that they do not have to think of the right questions to ask. We are committed to learn about each client's situation and then assist them in evaluating their options and implementing their goals. We are counselors-at-law and we do not take a "back seat" approach as we are not hesitant to advise and assist our clients. WHAT ABOUT FIRM SIZE?. How large or small a law firm do you need? We have grown over the past few years, and our new offices feature the latest in office technology including computerized legal data bases (such as Lexis and Westlaw), a significant data and word processing center, and a comprehensive law library providing both traditional and state-of-the-art methods of information retrieval and research. All of these important tools are available to our staff, and these resource materials are essential in providing quality legal services. Our firm's approach - past, present and projected - can consistently be attributed to our service to clients in an ever changing, complex society. We recognize that matters get blown out of proportion, and simple solutions might seem elusive. Yet, we are committed to minimizing the effort needed to accomplish the task. We believe the duplication of effort found in many of the large, multi-city law firms is an unnecessary expense. However, when a case warrants it, we can call upon a formidable array of talent and legal expertise in order to protect our client's interests. Many of our attorneys have practiced law with the "big factory" law firms where they often found client advocacy to be secondary to the protection of the "firm's interest" and its appearance to the community. The goal at Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Mahan P.S.C. is to provide better legal services to our current clients and grow with them. We have learned that our current client base, when pleased with the quality of our services, generates our new clients. Influence in the community and service to community organizations, while important on a personal basis, do not, in our opinion, advance the individual interests of our clients. WHAT ABOUT LEGAL FEES?. The Rules of Professional Responsibility, which govern lawyer conduct, require a clear understanding, usually in writing, regarding the amount of attorneys' fees to be charged. In most instances, the amount of our firm's fees is based upon the firm's regular hourly rates. When we undertake a new representation, we are pleased to provide an estimate of the amount of time that will be required to perform the necessary legal services. Charges will be itemized on our billing statements. These statements will disclose the date the service was performed and the type of services rendered, the amount of time devoted to the matter, and the identity of the attorney or legal assistant performing the services. In addition to our fees, we request reimbursement for all costs incurred by the firm, such as court filing fees, charges for expedited mail, package postage, copying charges, long distance telephone calls, etc. We only make these charges for the actual costs incurred. We have learned that it is better to charge our clients separately for actual expenses incurred in performing our services rather than raising hourly rates to all clients. Statements are issued on a monthly basis, and we expect our clients to review the statements and make payment in a timely fashion. Naturally, we want our clients to be satisfied with both the quality of our legal services and the amount of fees charged for such services. If, at any time, a client is not totally satisfied with our services or billing statements, then we want our clients to communicate their concern to us and give us the opportunity to rectify the situation. Always, every effort is made to provide our clients with the quality representation that they expect and deserve. AREAS OF CONCENTRATION.
