Samuel Spital & Associates brings to its clients 37 years of integrity, dependability and good judgment, which are indispensable in every aspect of Sam Spital's life, and the most important attributes of an attorney. Sam formulates his plan of action with an experienced attorney team member with each client's goals and expectations as the primary consideration. He strives to also provide each client with a pragmatic and thorough understanding of the legal issues, economic realities and alternatives in each case. Sam's firm is genuinely a people-oriented firm. Sam's honesty, integrity and trustworthiness are only surpassed by his exceptionally high level of concern for his clients. Sam began his legal career as a Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice (serving from 1970 - 1978, in both the Criminal and Civil Law Divisions). As a Deputy Attorney General, he handled over 50 criminal appeals, in all State and Federal Courts. Additionally, he prosecuted several hundred businesses and professionals licensed by the State for unprofessional conduct, violations of criminal statutes, gross negligence, consumer fraud, white-collar crimes, and other misdeeds. He represented nearly every State Agency, Board and Bureau in cases involving construction defects, professional malpractice, health care, fraud and unfair business practices. In 1978 Sam started his own Law Firm, eventually becoming Managing Attorney supervising seven offices throughout California, a team of 10 lawyers and nearly 50 employees handling over 10,000 cases. Also, Sam served as a Deputy Probation Officer for the County of San Diego (2001-2002) in the Adult Field Services section at the Hall of Justice in Downtown, San Diego. Sam's relentless focus on his clients and their respective needs and desires continues to be the paradigm for his law firm. As a result of his extensive experience in the legal profession, Sam has effectively represented a wide array of clients in many areas of law. His broad base of knowledge coupled with his ability to relate to all types of clients has made Sam one of the most well-known and resourceful lawyers in San Diego County. Sam is married to Phyllis (since 1967), and they have four adult children. The motto for his Firm is:. "A Law Firm That Cares!". Since 1971. Your First Telephone or Office Consultation is Free!!. INJURIES & DAMAGES: Certain matters, such as personal injury cases, are taken on a contingency basis, which means the attorney's fee is based on a percentage of any settlement or verdict we obtain. The client is responsible for out of pocket costs. However, at our discretion, we will often advance those costs for our clients. The personal injury cases we handle include pedestrian injuries, auto crashes, motorcycle collisions, slip/trip and fall, damage from assaults, dog bites and animal attacks, employment, malpractice and many others. CONSUMER & BUSINESS: Most small and medium sized businesses cannot afford to assert their legal rights, especially against large corporations which have seemingly unlimited funds to pay lawyers and other legal expenses. At times, we accept business cases on a contingency fee basis, and our fees consist of a percentage of the recovery, with the client responsible for out of pocket expenses. Otherwise, reasonable hourly fees apply. Our firm represents individuals and businesses involving consumer issues, general liability, general business disputes, unfair business practices, breach of contract, fraud and numerous others. CIVIL LITIGATION: Our firm represents clients in the prosecution and defense of civil cases involving collections, corporate matters, personal injury and wrongful death, malpractice, managed health care, product liability, school law and many other areas. CRIMINAL LITIGATION: We handle most Juvenile and Adult cases, whether misdemeanors or felonies. From detention, arrest and arraignment to the sentencing hearing, as well as probation revocation and parole violation, we're here for you!
