BALLITO PRAWN & JAZZ FESTIVAL 02 - 04 July 2010 "SAVE THIS DATE!” Can you picture it? An entire weekend dedicated to prawns, jazz, entertainment, shopping, and sporting events . . . sounds almost too good to be true, right? Wrong! Ballito is the new winter hot spot with a host of exciting activities, for the most fun you'll have this winter. With almost perfect weather all year round, gorgeous beaches, and a merging music mystro's. Ballito is well on its way to becoming one of the trendiest destinations in the country. Similar to the Knysna Oyster Festival, the three-day Prawn Festival will take place on the last weekend of the Mr Price Pro surfing competition. It will comprise of sports, music, food, extreme sports, moonlight marketing, interior design and outdoor living exhibitions, live jazz and loads of activities for the kids for the whole weekend! The festival will be held at the Collisheen Estate, but there will be festival specials and live Jazz music at various restaurants and shopping centers in Ballito. The Mozambican Seafood Market sponsored by Spar - a family picnic setting for you to relax and enjoy your prawn feast as the mellow sounds of Jazz fills the air. To quench the thirsty, a large SAB beer tent equipped with plasma screens for the sports enthusiast viewing pleasure. International and local Jazz talent will receive centre stage and entertain all festival visitors over the 3 day period. Sporting Highlights:ESA based in Ballito will host the weekends fishing events. On Friday, 02 July the focus will be on a kids' fun fishing clinic hosted by the ESA Pro's. The ESA pros will also be making guest appearances at local schools early next year, so don't miss them. On Saturday, 03 July anyone can enter a 4-Rod team and have the pleasure of fishing with the ESA champs. On Sunday, Dads n Lads Bass Fishing Competition, online entry forms.Two MTB challenges will be hosted at "Holla Trails” at the Collisheen Estate. On Friday, 02 July 2010, the sports programme will kick-off with the Kiddies Spur "Sugar Rush” MTB race, where younger members of the family are invited to flex their muscles and participate in this event. On Saturday, 03 July 2010, the aQuelle "Sugar Rush” MTB challenge will start the day. See festival web site for on-line applications. The 4 Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa will be hosting a regional 4x4 competition. More details on festival website. An exciting Celebrity Golf Day will be hosted at the Simbithi Eco Estate Country Club. On line registration. The Crafters Market and Collectable Fair will offer exquisite selections of handcrafted articles and rare collectable and antiques shop to the sound of jazz. Another exciting festival attraction is the IVK "Design HQ” - 1200m2 marquee transformed into an exquisite showrooms with the latest décor trends on sale. On Saturday, an exciting cook-off with top local chef each partnered with a celebrity assistant, creating a gourmet delight from a mystery basket. The Outdoor Living area offering the men a range of exciting "toys for boys” and all the latest gadgets for camping, braaing and outdoor living. For a taste of Mother Earth, visit the Organic and Farmers Market where you can enjoy and take home organic treats. For our children, a Kiddies Carnival and Expo boasting 5000sqm to keep them entertained for hours.
