Responsibilities: The candidate will help manage operational issues across the global Legal department, with a strong focus on outside counsel management, financial oversight, sourcing, and compliance. Manage all aspects of outside counsel and legal vendor relationships, including engagement, budget approval and management, benchmarking, and periodic performance reviews. Assist with management of global Legal department spending, including by playing an active role in negotiations with law firms worldwide, bill review/audit, and implementation of competitive bidding processes. Develop recommendations for additional opportunities for increasing efficiency and managing spend more effectively. Leverage best practices across legal functions and collaborate closely with Finance to develop and produce reporting that drives increased financial visibility and accountability. Requirements: A B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent experience with a strong academic record. Prior experience in negotiating with law firms or vendors and basic understanding of financial management principles, preferably in the context of a law firm or corporate legal department. Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues, and developing solutions. Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking also preferred. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Superior writing and oral communication skills.
