Custom Built PC (Computers)

Micro, Mini and Full ATX Motherboards; Extreme Graphics, Raid Hardware and Software

There are many reasons to have A Custom Built PC (computer) as opposed to a commercially built system, which includes some, or all of the following traits: To determine what one wants and needs in regard to quality, price, and availability; To make a machine customized for your exact needs To recycle an older system, or to upgrade to a more modern motherboard, video card, CPU, and RAM; To have a high end machine for gaming, multimedia, or other demanding tasks; avoiding the advertising links, trial software, and other commission-driven additions and modifications that increasingly are made to mass-market computers prior to their being shipped; and being able to make modifications to the original build at a later date with little hassle. One must remember that a person who is capable of designing and building a PC will most likely have sufficient knowledge and technical know-how to maintain their system, and will require little "tech support" from manufacturers.

Application, Data and Media

An Application Server is a software framework dedicated to the efficient execution of procedures (programs, routines, scripts) for supporting the construction of applications. The term was originally used when discussing early client-server server systems and servers that run SQL services and middleware servers to differentiate them from file servers. Later, the term took on the meaning of web applications, but has since evolved into more of a comprehensive service layer. An application server acts as a set of components accessible to the software developer through an API defined by the platform itself. For web applications, these components are usually performed in the same machine where the web server is running, and their main job is to support the construction of dynamic pages. However, present-day application servers target much more than just web pages generation, they implement services like clustering, fail-over and load-balancing, so developers can be focused just on implementing the business logic. Normally the term refers to java application servers. When this is the case, the application server behaves like an extended virtual machine for the running applications, handling transparently connections to the database at one side, and connections to the web client at the other.

The Data-Server model of computing is a distributed application structure that partitions tasks or workloads between the providers of a resource or service, called servers, and service requesters, called clients. Often clients and servers communicate over a computer network on separate hardware, but both client and server may reside in the same system. A server machine is a host that is running one or more server programs which share their resources with clients. A client does not share any of its resources, but requests a server's content or service function. Clients therefore initiate communication sessions with servers which await (listen for) incoming requests.

A Media Server refers either to a dedicated computer or to a specialized application software, ranging from an enterprise class machine providing video on demand to, more commonly, a small personal computer or NAS (Network Attached Storage) for the home, dedicated for storing various digital media (meaning digital videos/movies, audio/music, and picture files).

Home or Business, Wired and Wireless

A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) links two or more devices using some wireless distribution method and usually providing a connection through an access point to the wider internet. This gives users the mobility to move around within a local coverage area and still be connected to the network. Wireless LANs have become popular in the home due to ease of installation, and the increasing popularity of laptop computers. Public businesses such as coffee shops and malls have begun to offer wireless access to their customers; sometimes for free.

A local area network (LAN) is a computer network covering a small physical area, like a home, office, or small groups of buildings, such as a school, or an airport.

Home Theater PC's - An Awesome addition to your Home Theater Room

A Home Theater PC (HTPC) or Media Center is a device that combines some or all the capabilities of a personal computer with a software application that supports video, photo, and music playback, and sometimes digital video recorder (DVR) functionality. In recent years, other types of consumer electronics, including gaming systems and dedicated media devices have crossed over to manage video and music content. The term "media center" also refers to specialized application software designed to run on standard personal computer An HTPC and other convergence devices integrate many or all components of a home theater into a single unit co-located with a home entertainment system. An HTPC system typically has a remote control and the software interface normally has a 10 foot user interface design so that it can be comfortably viewed at typical television viewing distances. An HTPC can either be purchased pre-configured with the required hardware and software needed to add television programming to the PC, or can be cobbled together out of discrete components as is commonly done with software based HTPC setups.
