The late Michael Jackson is not hailed worldwide as "King of Pop" for nothing.Throughout his decades-long career, Jackson has received 190 recognized honors and awards from World Music Awards, American Music Awards, Grammy Awards, Guinness World Records and the Bambi.Jackson's 10 solo albums have sold at least 750 million albums worldwide.

His best-selling album, "Thriller" (1982), is the biggest selling album of all time, according to Guinness World Records.He has had 13 number-one singles in the US, trailing only The Beatles, Mariah Carey and Elvis Presley.

Jackson was the first artist in US music history to have had seven Top 10 singles from one album ("Thriller").The total lifetime earnings from royalties on his works have been estimated at half a billion dollars.

Jackson's music catalog holdings could be worth billions of dollars.The pop superstar has supported no less than 39 charitable organizations - more charities than any other pop singer, according to Wikipedia.

He co-wrote and sang on "We Are The World," which was released worldwide to aid the poor in Africa and the US.His "HiStory World Tour" which ran from 1996 to 1997, is still the biggest tour ever in terms of international attendance having sold 4.4 million tickets outside the US alone.Jackson has been acknowledged as a musical influence by many of today's music superstars such as Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Usher, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.He was a double-inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, once as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1997 and later as a solo artist in 2001.The Michael Jackson achievements timeline:1972-Jackson releases "Got To Be There," his first solo album.

It ends up being his final album released with Motown Records.1978- Jackson stars as Scarecrow in the film musical, "The Wiz."1979 - Jackson releases "Off the Wall" which eventually makes him the first artist to have four top-ten singles from one album.1982- Jackson releases "Thriller" which remains at number one in the Billboard album charts for 37 weeks and a record 80 consecutive weeks in the Top 10.

It spawns seven Top 10 singles.1983- Jackson becomes the first artist in the 80s to have two simultaneous top-five hits, "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" on April 16.

He also wins the most number of Billboard Awards in history than any other artist in one year with 13 trophies.He performs live on the "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" television special where he debuts his signature dance move, the moonwalk.1984- Jackson is inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He also wins the biggest number of Grammy Award trophies (8) and American Music Awards (8) in a single year.

"Thriller" still tops the sales chart, two years in the running.1985- Jackson co-writes and performs on "We Are The World," with nearly 20 million copies sold and millions of dollars donated to famine relief.1986- Jackson signs a 15 million dollar deal with Pepsi, the largest ever endorsement for product promotion.1987- Jackson releases the album, "Bad." It debuts at number one in the US and remains in the top five of the Billboard 200 for 38 weeks, longer than any other album to date.

It produces five number one hits.1988- Jackson releases his first autobiography, "Moonwalk" which reaches the top position on "The New York Times" best sellers' list.1989- Jackson is honored as artist of the decade by US President George H.


Bush.1990- Jackson is recognized as artist in the 80s to have had the most number one songs (10).

These include his duet with Paul McCartney in "Say Say Say" and his participation in "We Are The World." He is named MTV Video Vanguard Artist of the Decade.1991- Jackson releases "Dangerous." The album contains the number one song "Black or White," the video of which was broadcast simultaneously in 27 countries with an estimated audience of half a million people.He also signs a US$890 million contract by Sony, still the largest recording contract of all time.1992- Jackson sets up "Heal The World Foundation" which sent millions of dollars around the globe to help children threatened by war and disease.1993- Jackson performs during the halftime show at Super Bowl XXVIII, viewed by 135 million Americans alone.1995- Jackson releases the double album, "HiStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I." It is the best-selling multiple-disc album of all-time, with 20 million copies sold worldwide.The first single off "HiStory" is "Scream," a duet with super star sister, Janet Jackson, with a music video that cost reportedly over seven million U.S.


Later, Jackson releases the song "You Are Not Alone" which became the first song to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.1996- Jackson holds a concert in Manila, Philippines, his first and last concert here.1997- Jackson's short film, "Ghosts" premieres at Cannes Music Festival.

The music video for "Ghosts," which is over 38 minutes long, holds the Guinness World Record as the world's longest music video.

He also releases the remix album, "Blood on the Dance Floor: HiStory in the Mix" which sold six million copies, making it one of the best selling remix albums of all time.1999- Jackson organizes "Michael Jackson & Friends" benefit concerts in Germany and Korea.2001- Jackson releases "Invincible" which debuts atop the charts in 13 countries and goes on to sell approximately 10 million copies worldwide.2002- Jackson is named Artist of the Century at the American Music Awards.

He is also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.2006- Jackson receives Diamond Award at the World Music Award.
