10:21pm UK, Thursday May 27, 2010 Andy Jack, Sky News Online An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 has triggered a tsunami warning in the southern Pacific Ocean.To view this content you need Flash and Javascript enabled in your browser.Please download Flash from the Adobe download website.The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said the quake, initially reported as a magnitude 7.6, was 22.4 miles deep and centred 133 miles northwest of the island of Vanuatu."An earthquake of this size has the potential to generate a destructive tsunami that can strike coastlines in the region near the epicenter within minutes to hours," the tsunami centre said.View South Pacific Earthquake in a larger mapBut it said it was not yet clear whether a tsunami had actually been generated.The warning is for the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.The centre said the warning was in effect for the region only and that it would not expand to other areas of the Pacific based on the information known so far...
