In the tear down of iPhone HD by Gizmodo, it was stated that "The device has an improved display but that does not assure either its 960×640 display screen or not, as the device screen displays much higher resolution when compared to 3GS”. Technical specs of the high definition iPhone weren't confirmed at that point in time and was only taken as a rumour, but last week it was just confirmed through a source that the iPhone's upcoming generation will be running at a 960 x 640 resolution. Under a microscopic magnification it was observed that display screen of iPhone HD is almost twice times larger than that of the recent iPhone 3GS.
The tech observer concluded that the display screen of iPhone 4G counts to exactly twice the density of 3GS. The current iPhone RGB elements lay in both horizontal and vertical directions. The total doubled number of the RGB elements results as the increased resolution and quadruple number of pixels to 960 x 640. Furthermore, it was described that the pixel density would increase to massive number of 320dpi, much higher than any other mobile phone presently available.
