CHICAGO (AP) A spokeswoman for ComEd says more than a quarter million Chicago-area customers were without electrical power because of the violent storm that slashed through the area Friday afternoon.

ComEd spokeswoman Krissy Posey says 283,300 customers were without electricity at 6:30 p.m..
