Apple has always been amidst of carrier issues. AT&T made a lot of promises to the iPhone users to satisfy their expectations. The advanced and highly functional new operating system for iPhone's coming up generation ads hype to the carrier support. It is hoped that internet tethering will now finally be supported by AT&T's network.
It was just a year ago when Apple announced on the iPhone OS3.0 launching that it will support 3G internet tethering. But the only problem that stood in way was that the entire wireless carrier did not offer 3G internet tethering to iPhone users too.
With the release of iPhone OS 4.0 Beta and SDK for application developers this year, the patience seems to end. AT&T would soon be coming up with internet tethering on iPhone, but do not expect it to be for "free”. Tethering would cost you some pennies.
AT&T confirms its successive measure of internet tethering through a new configuration page on its official website. From this page, you can set your network settings that will enable internet tethering connection. Clicking on the internet tethering tab it gives you an option to call at 611 or visit (https://www.att.com), to activate internet tethering on your online account.
If you use iPhone OS4.0 jailbreak, it is very easy and for free to activate internet tethering activated on your AT&T's network. A program like MyWi helps you effectively activate internet tethering but again that is not officially authorized by Apple or AT&T.
