WHYY, though cutting back its TV news operation, is seeing a ratings surge for its morning radio news.The public station (90.9) nudged out powerhouse KYW (1060) for third place among the coveted demographic of persons aged 25-54 from 6 to 10 a.m.

weekdays, according to May ratings from Arbitron, released yesterday.

The Preston & Steve show on rock station WMMR (93.3) owns first place, followed by Tiffany & Michael on soft rock WBEB (101.1).Among all morning listeners, KYW was Philly's top station in May, followed by B101 and WMMR.As the chart below details, B101 was the top station among all weekly listeners ages 6 and up, locking 7.4 percent of the overall audience, followed by classic hits WOGL (98.1), KYW, urban adult contemporary WDAS (105.3), and classic rock WMGK (102.9.).�Looking upThe crown lights atop the Peco building, which were shut off Dec.
