Taking Green Day's fun and frisky pop-punk template, the group added some potty humour to become massive commercial favourites.Drummer Travis Barker joined the band in 1998, forming the trio best known - and loved - by fans.

However after years of success singer Tom DeLonge left Blink 182 in 2005, effectively placing the band on hiatus.Yet the Blink 182 story would take a tragic turn when drummer Travis Barker was involved in a serious plane crash last year.

Several crew members died, with Barker only surviving after sliding down the wing of the aircraft.Suffering third degree burns, the drummer recovered in hospital.

It seems as though the tragedy brought the group back together, with Blink 182 announcing their return after an appearance at the Grammy Awards. In a statement the band said: "To put it simply, We're back.

We mean, really back.

Picking up where we left off and then some.

In the studio writing and recording a new album," which followed minutes after the Grammy announcement".The band are currently preparing to being a massive tour of the United States, which is due to begin in Las Vegas on July 23rd.

Blink 182 have been working on a new track 'Up All Night' which is due to become the band's comeback single.Guitarist Tom DeLonge said: "It's got a little bit of (Pink) Floyd, a little bit of Rush, a little bit of Blink in there.

It's crazy, but it somehow sounds exactly like where we left off (in 2005).

It's an amazing song."In a report on Billboard, Tom DeLonge also revealed that the song will be finished when Travis Barker completes his drum parts.

Barker is still suffering from the affects of the crash which almost killed him.Blink 182 are apparently working through the night to get the track done.

"Everyone's trying to play catch-up right now and really nail this tour to be the best it can be and get everything ready, so there's no studio time right now," DeLonge added."Everyone's so busy just trying to make this thing happen, I think."Artists Linked to Article: None
