They display the hunter gatherers and follow the development of the first agricultural villages and how they became cities and then expanded and formed kingdoms as well as telling the biblical stories of the Edomites, Moabites and Ammonites and the story of the exodus. This part of the holy land is blessed with a rich spiritual heritage as recorded in the Bible. Abraham, Job, Moses, Ruth, Elijah, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ , Paul and other leading figures from the Bible performed pivotal elements of their divinely-ordained mission in the ancient landscape now within the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world's first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers.
