The men's basketball team at Siena College will continue to play home games at the Times Union Center for the next five years, the school announced on Wednesday.The college and the venue said they have signed a four-year contract extension, through 2014.

The previous contract was going to expire after the 2009-10 basketball season, which starts in November.Terms of the contract were not released.The Siena Saints have played home games at the arena in downtown Albany since it opened in 1990 as Knickerbocker Arena.

Twelve years ago, the Saints started playing every home game at the facility, which is owned by Albany County."Every time the Capital Region comes out to support Siena, we want it to be the best experience possible—and that happens at the Times Union Center," said Father Kevin Mullen, Siena's president.Siena, a private college in Loudonville, set an attendance record in the 2008-09 season.

More than 127,000 fans attended the Saints' 17 home games, an average of 7,500 people per gameThat season, the Saints won the conference championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA postseason tournament.
