Founded by Dian Fossey in 1978 to save the Gorillas.
Dedicated to the conservation of gorillas and their habitats in Africa through anti-poaching, regular monitoring, research, education and support of local communities, DFGFI uniquely continues to promote the ideals and vision of Dr. Dian Fossey
Dr. Dian Fossey, who was known to the Rwandans as “the woman who lives alone on the mountain,†is remembered throughout the world for her heroic struggle to preserve, protect, and study the mountain gorilla. As founder of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (formerly named The Digit Fund), her firm commitment to wildlife preservation, especially the mountain gorilla, resulted in a truly remarkable career that spanned almost two decades.
Please join us in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Karisoke Research Center where, since her death, her work has continued and grown through DFGFI and its programs dedicated to the conservation and protection of gorillas and their African habitats.
We look forward to meeting you and celebrating this historic event together.
