America's newest senator is good enough, smart enough and doggone it...Senator-elect Al Franken.

Say those words aloud.

To those who grew up during Belush-era "Saturday Night Live," who remember The Al Franken Decade, who know that Stuart Smalley belongs to several 12-step programs, this is a milestone cultural event.

Say it: "Senator-elect Al Franken." A one-time TV buffoon rises to the highest government chamber in the land.

Kind of makes you remember the first time you said, "Governor Ronald Reagan." Kind of.Yes, yes, Harvard-grad Franken gives the Dems a 60-vote filabuster-proof battering ram in the Senate (if every Dem is holding the ram), and the POTENTIAL for Team O to jam their agenda through Congress.

Oh, here will be plenty of time for political analysis.

Let's savor the cultural moment here."Anybody who writes a book that's called Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot -- you know is telling the truth," talker Ed Schultz crowed on MSNBC's "The Ed Show" Tuesday afternoon.

Not to mention "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" featuring Bill O'Reilly and other conservatives on the cover.

Must-see TV alert for Tuesday night: "The O'Reilly Factor." Or, as Senator-elect Franken prefers to refer to him, "O'Lielly." There is a serious chance that O'Li...uh, O'Reilly's head may actually explode on televsion.

Conservatives HATE Smalley, er, Franken.Ooops, we speak too soon.

Fox News has celebrated Franken's victory by saying that "No Joke! Stuart Smalley Headed to Senate." No, it didn't use quotes around Franken's "Saturday Night Live" creation, Smalley.

Senator-elect "Smalley"In the tradition of fairness and balance and "O'Lielly," here's a video clip of America's newest senator doing a Mick Jagger parody on "Solid Gold." (Ask your was lame and forgettable and on every night back before Al Gore invented the Internet.).

Al looks good in the tank top..better than say his soon-to-be-colleague Chris Dodd.
