A daredevil motorist has been caught driving a Porsche 911 Turbo at 172mph, the fastest ever recorded on a public road in Britain.

Tim Brady, a courtesy car delivery driver, had allegedly ‘borrowed’ the 192mph car from his employers and taken a friend for a spin when he was clocked by police doing speed checks from a bridge. He was stopped a few miles further on after they blocked the A420 dual carriageway near Abingdon, Oxon.

According to sources quoted in the Sun newspaper, Brady had hit 187mph in the £98,000 supercar moments before. A spokeswoman at car lease firm Helphire said: "Tim Brady was an employee until Monday morning when he handed in his resignation. He borrowed the Porsche 911 Turbo without permission - he jumped before he was pushed."

If convicted, Brady will be the fastest driver ever caught. The current record is held by car dealer Jason McAllister in 2003 when he was caught at 156mph in his BMW M3. He was jailed for five months. Brady has been released on bail to reappear at Oxford police station on February 17, police said.

Timothy Brady the who is the fastest ever driver jailed for doing a high speed of 172mph, Brady has been jailed for 10 weeks and banned from driving for 3 years because he was clocked doing 172 piles per hour on the A420 which is near Abingdon in his porsche.
