RECOGNITIONThe Direct Selling Association has awarded Scentsy Inc.

with the first Rising Star Award at the association's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

The award was created to honor an up-and-coming direct-selling company that has dedicated itself to achieving excellence in business operations.

Scentsy opened in 2004 to a safe, wickless alternative to burning candles in homes and offices.

Scentsy says it has experienced record growth.

It sells through independent consultants at home parties.Each year the Direct Selling Association presents awards in the areas of technology innovation, partnership, sales-force development and program excellence.

The five companies honored during the association's annual meeting were ACN Inc., Mary Kay Inc.,, Scentsy Inc.

and ServiceQuest., ServiceQuest and Scentsy are based in Idaho.Two nuclear leaders at the U.S.

Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory have been elected to the American Nuclear Society Board of Directors.

John Sackett, Ph.D., and Joy Rempe, Ph.D., are two of the five leaders elected for 2009.

Sackett is a senior adviser at INL, with 37 years of experience in nuclear technology development.

He was formerly the site manager of Argonne National Laboratory-West in Idaho and director of the Experimental Breeder Reactor-II division before becoming the associate director for engineering research at ANL.

Sackett has spent his career in advanced reactor development, especially sodium-cooled fast reactors, and was the originator of the operational-safety test program at EBR-II, which led to the Inherent Safety Demonstration Tests in 1986.

With more than 20 years of experience in reactor safety analysis and high-temperature testing, Rempe is a group leader within high-temperature testing and instrumentation development at INL.

She is responsible for instrumentation development efforts to enhance testing in INL's Advanced Test Reactor National Scientific User Facility, as well as providing severe accident consulting to several vendors certifying advanced reactor designs.

In 2005, Rempe was elected to the status of ANS Fellow for her research in severe reactor accidents.

Established in 1954, the purpose of the nonprofit American Nuclear Society is to promote awareness and understanding of the application of nuclear science and technology.

GOOD DEEDSSilpada Designs colleagues Donna Gudmundson and Angie Neal donated more than $3,500 in profits from sales of Silpada jewelry to the Make-a-Wish Idaho Chapter.

Their donation, combined with the $1,088 in on-site cash donations, added up to more than $4,600.Their Make-A-Wish child, Elizabeth, 17, who lives Star with her family.

Her wish was to visit Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla., and attend a behind-the-scenes zookeeper tour, go to aquariums and a water park, and spend time on the beach.MILESTONESRoaring Springs will celebrate its 10th anniversary Friday.

It is offering $10 admission all day and free admission for anyone born on June 19, 1999.

The new Thunder Falls Family Raft Ride was built in celebration of the park's 10th birthday.
