If you can see past the cool alien robots and take your eyes off hotties Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, watch for a self-professed "Transformers" geek who's living out his childhood fantasy in one of this summer's most-anticipated sequels.Ramon Rodriguez, probably most recognized for his role as Renaldo on HBO's "The Wire," plays Leo, the college roommate of LaBeouf's character, in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which opened on Wednesday.Based on the 1980s cartoon series and comic about alien robots who disguise themselves by transforming into machines, the live-action film is a sequel to 2007's "Transformers," also directed by Michael Bay.Rodriguez, a New York-raised Puerto Rican actor who got his start in Nike commercials, talks about the film, doing his own stunts and where else you can see him this summer.Q: How big a "Transformers" fan are you?A: When I was a kid, I had a great, big bag of Transformers that I'd play with like every day.

When I got the part (in "Transformers"), I called my mom up and asked her to start looking for my old toys.

It was so cool to see all that stuff again.Q: Who's your favorite "Transformers" character?A: Ravage is the one that people are going to love to see what he can do (in the film).

In the cartoon, he used to come out of Soundwave.Q: Tell me about your character Leo.A: His full name is Leonardo Ponce de Len Spitz.

I love saying that name.

It's a great name.

He's a techie and a conspiracy nut who's completely at home in his dorm room in front of his computer.

When he's taken out of that comfort zone, he just wants to go back home.

Leo is the film's comedic relief.Q: You did many of your own stunts in the film.

How did you prepare for those scenes?A: There's really no way to prepare for that.

There's really nothing to make you feel safe when there's something blowing up behind you.

You just have to believe in the people around you to know what they're doing and have your back.Q: You've had a busy spring promoting two movies (Rodriguez can also be seen opposite Denzel Washington and John Travolta in "The Taking of Pelham 123").

How do you keep up with such a demanding schedule?A: I'm getting energy from I don't know where.

The international press tour (for "Transformers") has been an intense experience.

I've been to 10 countries in 10 days.

I guess experiencing countries where I've never been is enough to keep me going.
