The Rating Runet project has published a list of the leading web studios on the Russian Internet. Companies are ranked by the volume of their active client portfolio for 2009. This is the first all-Russia rating that was formed on the basis of objective technical indicators.

There are more than 2,000 companies providing web site development in Russia, but not all of them are active or perform quality work. Rating Runet is an interactive tool to find and select the best web studios.

The rating's methodology is based on the client portfolio of the web studio — all the sites that the company had developed by the end of 2009. The number of points depends on the thematic citation index (TIC) and PageRank (PR) indicators, and on web sites' authority on the search engines Yandex and Google. The rating is based on open, public data and the organizers have been unable to influence its outcome.

The rating is presented as a list of the Top 100 web studios on the Russian Internet, comprising developers of Russian-language web sites, with offices in Russia and the CIS. Here is a list of the

Local ratings for countries of the CIS, Russian federal districts and major cities are also being formed. The Rating Runet for major cities has been attracting accredited regional partners in all Russia's major cities for data control and to get the most correct representation of the market.

Market indicators

The Rating complements market research, based on data from the analytical portal of CMS Magazine and a survey of web studios about the main characteristics of their operations and their expectations for 2010.

The research revealed that:

§ $216 million was the volume of the market for 2009

§ 51 percent growth is expected for 2010

§ $6,000 is the average cost of developing a corporate web site in Moscow

§ $3,300 is the cost of the same service in Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk

§ 35 working days is the average time taken to complete a corporate site

§ 8-15 people work at a typical web studio.

The full version of the study will be available on the Rating Runet and CMS Magazine websites.
