Monmouth fair opens in Freehold tonight FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The 35th annual Monmouth County Fair, organized and presented by the Monmouth County Park System in cooperation with the Monmouth County 4-H Association, will be held from July 22-26 at the East Freehold Park Showgrounds on Kozloski Road between Route 33 and Route 537 in Freehold Township.

The fair's 35th year will have something for people of all ages.

The schedule will include fireworks, a pie-eating contest, a lumberjack show and barbeque competition.

Each day will be highlighted with a different theme, including Motor Sports Night, July 22; Circus Night, July 23-24; and Children's Day, July 25.

Rounding out the five-day schedule will be stage entertainment, home and garden competitions and exhibitions, a firemen's competition, pig races, an antique auto and classic car show and much more.

Main stage entertainment will feature The Pipes and Drums of the Atlantic Watch bagpipe band, July 22; Expect the Impossible with Mark Nizer, July 23; Josh Schreiber - Springsteen Tribute Band, July 24; Total Soul rhythm and blues, soul and disco, July 25; and the Colts Neck Swing Band, July 26.

The fair will be in motion on July 22, 23 and 24 from 5 to 11 p.m.; on July 25 from 11 a.m.

to 11p.m.; and on July 26 from 11 a.m.

to 6 p.m.

Monmouth County's volunteer firefighters are ready for anything and they will prove it at 7 p.m.

July 22 during the Busted Hose and Ladder Competition at the fair.

The Busted Hose event features six firefighters in full gear racing to replace a section of hose and shoot at a target.

Fire companies from throughout Monmouth County will compete.

Other highlights for July 22 include oneprice rides ($18) all evening, fireworks, Bwana Jim's Reptile Show, and the 4-H Variety Show and Ambassador Contest.

The Pipes and Drums of Atlantic Watch will perform on the fair's main stage at 8 p.m.

Pop recording artist Danielle Ashley, 15, of Howell, will be performing at the Monmouth County Fair on July 25 at 2:30 pm.

She will be joined by her dancers, Alex De- Pierro, Kristin Seneca, Ariana Royce Giardina, Madison Gross and Romina Gadaleta.

Pay-one-price amusement rides with wristbands ($18 each session) will be available on July 22, 23 and 26.

On July 26, Senior Day, people age 65 and over will be admitted to the fair for free.

General admission to the fair is $7 per person.

Children age 12 and under will be admitted for free at all times.
