Email400 new homes approved for Govt workersPosted July 22, 2009 19:00:00Updated July 22, 2009 19:27:00 400 new homes for regional WA (ABC Rural: Matt Brann) Map: Tom Price 6751More than 400 new homes are to be provided to State Government employees across regional WA.The Government says the initiative will help reduce housing shortages.The $200 million program is being funded by the Royalties for Regions scheme.Eight modular homes are already on their way to Tom Price.The Regional Development Minister, Brendon Grylls, says about 200 homes have gone to tender.

"They are predominantly to the Kimberley and Pilbara," he said."The Pilbara is the biggest recipient, that's where we've got the biggest challenge in housing.

Over 140 of the 400 houses will be situated in the Pilbara community and I think its about 90 in the Kimberley."Tags: government-and-politics, housing, state-parliament, australia, wa, tom-price-6751
