THE DEAL The two-part special is a follow-up to last summer's groundbreaking documentary that delved deep into the role race plays in the lives of black Americans.

The two parts are "Tomorrow's Leaders" (tonight) and "Today's Pioneers" (tomorrow).

FEATURED The leaders include John Rice, who runs Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a boot camp that teaches young people unwritten rules of business success, such as networking and how to present yourself and your product to investors.

Among the pioneers profiled are Michigan oncologist Dr.

Lisa Newman, who is working to uncover reasons beyond socioeconomic differentials why such a large percentage of black women die from triple-negative breast cancer, and Dawn Spencer, who's in her third battle with the disease but still works full time while fighting to provide breast prostheses to impoverished survivors.

The highlight of the series is host Soledad O'Brien's sojourn to South Africa with Malaak Compton-Rock, wife of actor Chris Rock, who brings 30 kids from the same Salvation Army center where her Brooklyn-born husband hung out as a child to aid residents of South African slums.
