EUGENE (Oregon): Lolo Jones crashed out of the 100m hurdles at the US athletics championships on Sunday, ending her hopes of making up for her disappointment at last year's Olympics with World Championship gold.

"Michelle Perry and me locked arms over (hurdle) four," said Jones, who crashed into the fourth hurdle and failed to finish her semi-final.

Perry, the two-time defending world champion who would have had a bye into the event at the World Championships in Berlin in August even had disaster struck, still emerged with the third-fastest time of the semi-finals behind Damu Cherry and Olympic gold medallist Dawn Harper.

Jones was racing for just the second time since tearing a hamstring at the Drake Relays in April.

"If I would have had more race experience, I would have been able to control it and not be affected by it," she said.

Jones had arrived at the Beijing Games as the 2008 world leader in the 100 hurdles.

She was leading the Olympic final when she planted her foot in the ninth hurdle and failed to medal.

Her failure here means she won't get a chance to make up for that mistake at the worlds.

"I can only pick myself up and go to Europe and try to salvage my season," she said.
