IowaTix.It only happens once every two years, so break out the hair spray and the bumpits and get ready to party at Art Noir�s Big Hair Ball.

The surreal event transforms the Art Center into a glamorous runway with the latest fashions, makeup and hairstyles morphed into works of art.

�Glam Revolution� is the theme of the event, which also features a live emcee, burlesque dancing and live body paintings.

Attendees are urged to dress up for the event with a head-turning outfit for the show/dance party, but we doubt you�ll be able to match the outrageous costumes and hairstyles of the models, who have been glammed up by local hair salon designers.In case you aren�t ready to go home when the ball ends, there will be a Big Hair Ball After-party from 11 p.m.-2 a.m.

$10.Crooner Wellman to release CD at party8-10 p.m.

Saturday, Des Moines Social Club, 1408 Locust St., $10 at door ($5 students)A week earlier, he crossed the stage at Veterans Auditorium, receiving a diploma from Des Moines Roosevelt High School.

On Saturday, up-and-coming local jazz singer Max Wellman, 17, will be on stage at Des Moines Social Club with a full band to celebrate the release his first full-length album, "Comes Love." Wellman has become a mainstay on the live jazz scene as a front man for assorted combos.

His growing resume is highlighted so far by the chance to open for Grammy nominee Vanessa Carlton as part of Des Moines' Nitefall on the River series.

Wellman plans to continue his music studies and career by attending Butler University in the fall.Korn to headline Indianola LazerfestStarting at noon on Sunday, Memorial Balloon Field, Highway 92, east of Indianola; tickets are $35 through Ticketmaster, $40 day of the show.The rock band Korn will headline the all-day outdoor heavy-metal rock festival Lazerfest, sponsored by radio station KAZR-FM (known locally as Lazer 103.3).

Gates open at noon, with the first band, Destrophy, taking the stage shortly after that.

Korn�s performance is scheduled to start at 9:10 p.m.

Besides the head-banging music, there will be plenty of State Fair-style concessions with food and drinks.

principalcharityclassic.comNew this year at the Principal Charity Classic golf tournament is an event at 2:30 p.m.

on Friday called Networking on the Green.

It�s an effort by organizers to get more young professionals to attend the golf tournament.

At the networking event, the young professionals can hob-nob with 10 local CEOs, including Barry Griswell, author and former CEO of Principal.

Three local bands who are to perform at this summer�s 80/35 Music Festival start playing at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets to Networking on the Green are $30.
