Lastings Milledge

Let me get this straight. We are, one year removed, trading Brian Schneider and Ryan Church -- two starters on a team far better than ours, who would be playing here today nearly everyday -- for a 29 year old Nyjer Morgan? All because Rizzo doesn't like the attitude of a 24 year old Lastings Milledge? At the very bottom of his trade value? For a team that isn't going anywhere this year? When we have no room on the 25 man roster for Morgan? When you could hand the at bats to Justin Maxwell to end the debate about whether he can play in the bigs?Unless Rizzo has a complementary move ready to launch, this trade is indefensible.Posted by: WebberDC | June 30, 2009 2:36 PM Remember WebberDC, that trade was all Jim Bowden.

I think Rizzo is trying to put his stamp on the team and at the same time he's dumping a malcontent from the Bowden regime.

I personally love the trade.

Granted, Morgan isn't anything great, but who could expect us to get anything for Milledge? We're talking about a guy with a bad/selfish attitude, plays poor defense, and is a career .265 hitter.

Nothing to write home about.

We need defense more than anything right now.

If Guzman,NJ,FoF,Dunn,Hammer can get their bats going, I think thats plenty of offense as long as you have an above average defense.
