We sell original, one-of-a-kind kimono skirts, shirts and wallets made from used and vintage Japanese kimono material.
KI is for Kimono, and YA is Japanese for 'shop'. In Kyoto, the traditional center of the Kimono, Ki-ya means "How about wearing this?", or "Why don't you try this on?"
The Kanji (Chinese character) is "Ki"; not for kimono, but for spirit or energy. So how about wearing one of our products that can make you feel fresh and energetic!
KIYA is a Kyoto based store that seeks to provide a new fusion of clothing that hybridises traditional Japanese clothing with a new blend of Western clothing. In Japan, kimonos are now worn only on certain cultural holidays, and in celebratory events like weddings and coming of age ceremonies. We wish to reinvograte traditional clothing in a new, unique and individual style that suits the contemporary age.
