LOUDON, N.H.

— There were questions about the judgment of team owner Joe Gibbs when he decided to replace Tony Stewart, a departing two-time NASCAR champion, with a 19-year-old rookie this season. The former NFL coach, head of Joe Gibbs Racing, admitted Sunday he tried not to put too many expectations on the talented but inexperienced Joey Logano."We were really looking for just constant improvement, and that's really what we've seen," Gibbs said after Logano became the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.Logano took the rain-shortened Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

He overcame a crash and a lost lap, saving enough fuel to prevail in his 20th Cup start.Logano has three victories in the second-tier NASCAR Nationwide Series."Well, I figured out this sport is a roller coaster," Logano said when asked how difficult his learning curve has been.

"I go up and down, up and down, up and down."Kyle Busch was 20 when he set a youngest-winning-driver record in 2005.Four-time Cup champion Jeff Gordon was second and steadily cutting into Logano's lead before the race was called after 273 laps.Kasey Kahne of Enumclaw finished 10th of 43.Greg Biffle of Vancouver, Wash., was 18th.Note• Larry Dixon earned his fourth Top Fuel victory of the season at the NHRA Nationals in Norfolk, Ohio.Other winners were Jack Beckman (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
