CHICO —Â Three former Chico Outlaws players — Julian Benavidez of the Orange County Flyers, Lino Garcia of the Tucson Toros and Casey Garrison of the Long Beach Armada — have already returned to Nettleton Stadium with their new teams this season.

None in the trio have received an unusually strong applause from Outlaws fans.

Steve Boggs has the potential to hear one today when he comes back for the first time since signing with the Orange County Flyers.

"Boggsy," the reference teammates used to get his attention around the Outlaws clubhouse the past two seasons, missed just two games in his two years as the club's center fielder and recorded a .296 average while hardly ever straying from the top two spots in the batting order.

But he especially endeared himself to the organization during its 2007 Golden Baseball League championship run, when he consistently cranked out clutch hits in dramatic wins and made diving outfield catches.

Boggs was in his customary No.

14 Outlaws jersey during GBL spring training last month.

That was before he was released from the team two days before the first game when six other players were sporadically bought overnight by the Outlaws from the fire sale following the Yuma Scorpions' ownership change.

He has since resurfaced with the Flyers and helped the team reorganize after a nasty start to the year.

Since beginning the season with eight straight losses and eventually a 1-9 record, the Flyers Advertisementare 11-2 and in the hunt for the South Division's first-half championship.

It would be the second straight such title for Orange County, last season's GBL champion.

Efforts for this story to reach Boggs, who has been in Southern California for Orange County's series against the St.

George RoadRunners all weekend, were unsuccessful.

FUN FIRSTS: Against the Flyers, the Outlaws will look to improve their 6-2 record in series openers this year.

The Outlaws have won four of the six series where they won the opener.

DATE NIGHT: Jesse Kovacs, a former Outlaws teammate of Boggs, will be a focus on tonight's episode for the hit reality show "The Bachelorette," which airs locally on channels 7 and 10 at 9 p.m.

Kovacs is among the male finalists still competing to be selected as the winner by Jillian Harris, the show's star.

Notes: Trevor Caughey, yet another top performer on last season's Outlaws squad at a different GBL location, is on track to pitch against them for the Edmonton Capitals at Nettleton Stadium on July 3.

...

Jo Matumoto (2-2, 4.80 ERA) is set to face Orange County's Matt Durkin (2-2, 3.68) in tonight's pitching matchup if the Flyers' pitching rotation remains intact.
