E-mail this pagePrint this pageLarger type Smaller type 2:06 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 Staff ReportA 45-year-old Illinois woman was reportedly caught passed out in the Oxford Walmart parking lot with 18 cans of pressurized dust remover.Police received a call on July 2 that Bette Lybarger, 607 Flamingo Court, Effingham, Ill., was seen inhaling cans of Clean Safe brand dust remover and drifting in and out of consciousness.Officers reportedly arrived to find Lybarger passed out in her vehicle with a can of the pressurized duster in her lap at around 10 p.m.

Three of 18 cans in the vehicle had condensation on the exterior and appeared to have been emptied recently, police said.Police said they were able to arouse Lybarger and assisted the Oxford Life Squad in transporting her to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Officers spoke with Lybarger at the hospital later that evening, at which point she reportedly admitted to having a problem with inhaling duster and was referred to an addiction specialist.Lybarger was issued a citation for abusing harmful intoxicants and was released to hospital staff for further observation.Information compiled from Oxford Police reports.
