Hooked on Hamlin dedication rescheduledMelissa McGuire - Daily News Staff WriterMonday, June 29, 2009Dedication of the latest sculpture to be installed at Ludingtons Waterfront Park will be delayed by one week to avoid conflict with the Ludington Offshore Fishing Classic.

Dedication of the Hooked on Hamlin sculpture, which celebrates generations sharing their love of Mason Countys largest inland lake, was scheduled for July 17 but has been postponed until 5 p.m., Friday, July 24.

Follow the Leader, previously installed, also will be dedicated then.

There was justtoo much surrounding the fishing tourney on the 17th to haveboth eventssimultaneously taking place, Ginny Hluchan, member of the Hamlin sculpture committee reported Sunday.

The sculpture shows a grandfather and grandson preparing to fish.

Hluchan reports the Grandpa Hamlin figure arrived in Ludington Friday evening. The oval cement pad on which the sculpture will rest has been installed in the waterfront park and landscapeboulders have been selected.

Jack Michevich is planning on installing the sculpture Wednesday, weather permitting.

.

Shawn McDonald and Jack Harper have been highly accommodating with regards to the finishing touchesnecessary in order to give our sculpture a noteworthy and estheticpresence in the park, Hluchan said in an e-mail.

Don Clingan is putting together the agenda for the dedication.
