Amboseli, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, N'gorongoro Crater
10 days.

Beginning in Nairobi, Kenya (‘Safari Capital of the World'), this unforgettable safari takes participants through some of the Kenya's most well-known regions. Destinations include Amboseli National Park (with Mount Kilimanjaro ever-looming in the background) offering a multitude of wildlife, including the park's vast populations of elephants, giraffe, lion, cheetah, zebra and wildebeest. Other wondrous destinations include the winged wildlife of Tsavo West National Park; the hippo, elephant and world-famous tree-climbing lions of neighboring Tanzania's Lake Manyara National Park within the Great Rift Valley; the grassland-filled greatness of the Serengeti National Park; and the spectacular, contained eco-system of the N'gorongoro Crater - offering some 30,000 wildlife species!

Proposed Itinerary

Day One: Preparation for Safari: Volunteers prepare for the safari - picked up from their respective host families/hostels.

Day Two & Three: Amboseli National Park: For the duration of these two days, participants will reside in accommodations arranged and approved byYouth Hostels Tours and Volunteers where breakfast, lunch & dinner will be available. The day's safari will begin with a drive to Amboseli National Park near Kilimanjaro - jutting skyward and dominating the horizon with its glorious peak reaching approximately 19,340 feet. The afternoon unfolds - treating participants to numerous wildlife-viewing opportunities, including: the area's massive elephant population as well as giraffe lions and cheetahs. The wildlife experience continues the next morning as participants are treated to even more of Amboseli National Park's wonderment - zebra and wildebeest run amok as the safari continues into the afternoon and early evening.

Day Four: Tsavo West National Park: After breakfast, the group will depart for the Tsavo West National Park, witnessing this unique national park's overwhelming population and diversity of birds and wildlife.
Day Five: Lake Manyara National Park: After breakfast, participants will cross-over into neighboring Tanzania where they will enjoy lunch in the spectacle-filled city of Arusha before beginning their journey to Lake Manyara National Park. Located within the daunting confines of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park is recognized for its cornucopia of wildlife, including: buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo and even tree-climbing lions. The day concludes with dinner as well as an overnight stay in nearby accommodations.

Day Six & Seven: Serengeti National Park: One of the most famous game-viewing parks in the world stretching over a span of approximately 15,000 square kilometers, the shifting seasons contained within the Serengeti offer various climates for an impressive catalogue of wildlife, including gazelles, zebras, cheetahs, wild dogs, leopards, and over a million wildebeests. Participants also experience a beautiful sun-setting safari - watching the diversity of animals dance below the orange skies of the late afternoon.

Day Eight & Nine: N'gorongoro Crater: After breakfast, the group will arise to an early-morning safari before traveling to the N'gorongoro Crater in the afternoon. The N'gorongoro Conservation Area is located on the Far East area of the Serengeti and contains four distinct habitats - all offering unparalleled game-viewing opportunities year-round. Some of the phenomenal safari experiences include epic observations such as the Great Migration - tens of thousands of zebra and wildebeest stampeding across the Serengeti. Also contained within the N'gorongoro area are world-renowned archeological sites of Laetoli where some of the oldest proof of human existence can be found - footprints over 3.6 million years old. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in nearby accommodations.

Day Ten: N'gorongoro/Nairobi: Participants awake for an early morning game drive, followed by breakfast. Here, participants say their good-byes and express their gratitude to their guides before being escorted to their respective volunteer projects. Breakfast provided.
