AAA predicts the number of Marylanders traveling over the Fourth of July holiday weekend will decline by less than one percent from 2008.The auto club expects 709,000 Marylanders to travel 50 miles or more over the holiday weekend, a 0.6 percent decline from 2008 when 751,500 people traveled.A factor in the decline is the 7 percent increase in gas prices from a month ago.

Over the last month fuel prices in Baltimore have jumped 16 cents to $2.58 a gallon, according to a AAA press release.

Last year at this time gas was over $4 a gallon.AAA expects 89 percent of Marylanders to travel by car, a decline of 1.2 percent from the previous year.
