Activities for Life, Therapeutic Services, provides the nations only low cost online/ "Home Courses", for those wanting to work in the field of Human Services.
Director, Veronica Herrera, B.A., has created a program that includes 16 plus years of experience in the field, teaching, along with consulting with Hospice, The Alzheimer's Association, as well as Anthropology professors and seasoned Human Service experts.
Activities for Life offers two distinct areas of training: Activity/Recreation Assistant and Human Services Assistant. The courses have some areas that overlap: Care Plans, Program Development, Assessments, Therapeutic care (Psychosocial). The course entails a workbook (included in low cost tuition of only $85; students then complete the activities, light reading, along with a test and some volunteer hours. Activities for Life also holds "live classes" in Grand Junction, Colorado. Students, after completion of the course, earn their paraprofessional certificate.
Herrera says she feels great satisfaction and peace at offering students an alternative to high tuitions and seemingly endless student loan payments. The students also have access to career counseling as well, as well as continued consulting if needed.
