July 17, 2009 05:57 PM Eastern Daylight Time Deadliest Sea Movie, Inspired by Deadliest Catch, Premieres on the Heels of Four Primetime Emmy NomsDiscovery Channel Sunday, July 19 at 9PM ET/PTBURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thom Beers, CEO and Executive Producer of Original Productions, a division of FremantleMedia, and his Emmy® nominated Deadliest Catch team are set to debut their first scripted television event.

The team, including Beers and Original Productions President Philip Segal, will premiere the movie, Deadliest Sea, this Sunday night July 19 at 9PM ET/PT, on the Discovery Channel.

The epic launches just a few days after the ATAS (Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) announcement (7.16.09) that their five-year-old Discovery Channel ratings winner, Deadliest Catch, has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy® Awards.

"The scripted film is a natural extension of Original's and Discovery's 'Deadliest Catch' brand, because there are stories of heroism that have been left untold on the ocean's storm-whipped waters," said Beers.

"The Deadliest Sea tells the story of the decision every sea captain fears: the announcement to abandon ship," said Segal.

"This is a very real concern each time our film crews are out on the Bering Sea with the fishing vessels.

Both Thom Beers and Philip Segal are Executive Producers of the Deadliest Sea, along with noted writer, producer, director Karen Wookey, who is also credited as producer of the film.
