After two days of confusion, Cornelius Ingram has moved on from slipping to the fifth round of the NFL draft.

Ingram, the former Florida Gators tight end who was a second-round pick on many mock drafts, fell to the Philadelphia Eagles as the 153rd pick, midway through the fifth round.

Ingram said his torn anterior cruciate ligament that caused him to miss the entire 2008 season must have made teams nervous to pull the trigger.

"I knew a lot of teams liked me -- some teams were just scared," Ingram said in a phone interview with the Sentinel on Sunday.

"I performed well at the combine and at pro day.

At the end of the day, I'm going to do whatever it takes to be best tight end in the draft.' Ingram watched the draft from his family's home in Hawthorne with anticipation until the nightmare was finally over and his name was called.

Eagles coach Andy Reid soon called shortly after and reassured Ingram of his value.

Playing with Donovan McNabb, whom Ingram calls a "future Hall of Famer," only sweetens the deal.

"He was telling me how interested they were in me earlier in the draft but they didn't have a third- or fourth-round pick," Ingram said.

"That made it a lot easier â€" I knew if they would have had higher pick, I probably would have gone a lot earlier." Here's what else Ingram had to say about the draft.
