There’s billion of Texas money just waiting for owners to come and claim it.

Those owners will be notified of their orphaned money in Sunday’s San Antonio Express News when the “list of unclaimed property” comes out, courtesy of the state Comptroller’s department.

Spokesman R.J. Silva says that much money gets forgotten when people get too busy and forget about a rental deposit or royalties from an oil lease.

“The most we ever had claimed was $4.2 million.”

Some 130,000 people are on this year’s list.

Silva says you don’t have to wait for the yearly list to come out in the paper.

Now you can also go online to to look for your name.

He says make no mistake: the state wants to get your money to you. Otherwise, they have to keep maintaining and tracking all those unclaimed funds, sometimes the same amount for years on end, a process funded by the taxpayer.
