The largest processor making company in the World, Intel, has announced that they can now produce Intel Atom processors for mobile devices that would successfully run on Android OS. Intel atoms are the carefully designed chips which are low powered and developed to be integrated into netbooks and smartphones. This statement could mark a big impact on the future of Mobile phones.

Intel's software and services group general manager, Renee James, said

"Intel is enabling all OSes for Atom phones.” Adding that Atom's were already running Android in several instances, Mr James said that a number of companies had already shown interest in applying the development.

This development is in a lot of favor for Google which has been trying for quite a long time to compete in the mobile phone industry. Previously, it attempted on Apple's iPad to be come the primary OS. Since Intel atom is the ideal processor which will be used in future mobile devices, it looks like Google has now got a "BIG shot”!

Intel is not however the only firm to utilize Android OS on such a chip. Acer has already incorporated such components into their netbooks. Another chip manufacturing company MIPS has utilized the technology in their media players, set-top boxes and digital picture frames.
